Since 1890 the Garman Opera House has been offering entertainment to the Bellefonte area. Built originally as a venue for live performances, the Garman was a stop on the vaudeville circuit. Such notables as Harry Houdini, George Burns and Gracie Allen, The Flora Dora Girls and Tom Mix have performed onstage. |

With
the arrival of the "talkies" the Garman became a movie house
in 1931 and continued to show feature films until 1961.The
demise of small town theatres caused the Garman to serve as a furniture
warehouse for 29 years. In 1990 the Garman was completely renovated and
once again became a live performance theatre until 1999. In July 2000
the Garman Opera House was reopened as a movie theatre. Feature films,
classic, art and foreign films are played daily on our large screen. Digital
surround sound and reclining seats are some of the amenities in our 335-seat
capacity facility. Enjoy
